Be Still. Be Loved. Repeat.
Life is constant and circular in nature. Each ending bleeds into another beginning that bleeds into another ending. We have been conditioned to believe that we are moving forward. We’re told to leave the past in the past and that time heals everything. So we find ourselves baffled when our brand new beginnings are filled with yesterday’s heartaches, and we come face-to-face with pain from the past.
Constantly in motion, we forget to give ourselves space to process the journey. Against the backdrop of my own recent transition, I wrote this book to extend to you an invitation to press pause on the everyday and give yourself the time to reflect and reset. This is your opportunity to find healing and begin to see yourself through the eyes of love and compassion.
The Art of Transition is a 30 day reset program. Over the course of the 30 days, you will be assigned books, podcast, sermons, journal prompts, and short activities to help you reflect, heal, and grow. The resources listed in the book serve as a tool to enhance this program. Though not essential, I recommend doing as much of the homework as possible even if that means you spread the thirty days out over the course of 30 weeks! I’m not a big rules person, so feel free to do what works for you. Most of the resources listed in the homework are free and can be accessed online, but to complete the reset in it’s entirety you will need the following:
How To Survive A Shipwreck by Jonathan Martin
Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist
Rising Strong by Brené Brown
The Tree of Life by Justin Stumvoll
Redefined by Love series by Abi Stumvoll
Self-publishing a book requires a lot more than just writing some awesome words. It requires editing, graphic design, page layout, marketing, printing, distribution, and so much more.
That being said, I’m offering a couple of rewards to help get this project off the ground and into the hands of the people who need it the most. Feel free to give more than the minimum amount listed on the reward.
Rewards will start being delivered on Thursday, December 13th and are available until January 1.
Let’s turn this book into reality!
Eight days before I turned 3, my family and I were driving home from church when we were hit by a truck head-on. My father died 3 hours later, and my mom was in the hospital for months. It became my norm that something that tragic and that horrible could happen, you could have your entire life stripped away from you and not know that that wasn’t normal. We moved to Nashville two years later after my mom got remarried, and I didn’t know how to be a kid.
Fast forward 24 years, and I’m right back in Nashville as a 27 year old.
It felt like my whole world was pulled out from under me all over again, but this time, I did it to myself.
The life I built on other side of the world was gone. I was isolated. I got in a car accident and was in physical pain. I felt just like I did as a little kid. I felt that loneliness, and I felt that no one was here. That’s what this book came out of.
It came out of learning to love that little girl and getting into her world, because no one else did. It healed the 27 year old. It healed the woman who felt that she had to perform and smile and be what other wanted her to be. It was in those 6 months that I was able to connect with that little girl and learn to celebrate what she liked, and I got to heal. I learned that transition is a beautiful invitation to heal any wounds that haven’t healed, that didn’t get love in that place before. That’s what this book is.
It’s about my dad but not my dad. It’s about being and being in my 20s and confused. It’s about all the things, and it has been the most painful and most healing thing that I’ve ever done.

I do more than just write awesome books!
We’re all beautifully whole and wholly human. And in that humanity, we all need help from time to time. With a combination of practical tools and compassion, I help my clients face everything from performance, eating disorders, sexuality, shame, addiction to anxiety.
Let’s face it, pain, anxiety, shame, confrontation, and addiction can be pretty touchy subjects. But I like to think these topics are a bit more user friendly. With a combination of compassion, practical tools, and a healthy dose of humor, I empower people to create and live the life they desire.
